Dan Bilawsky
Arts Advocacy Award

This award seeks to recognize an individual’s deep passion and dedication to the arts, encouraging and instilling a love of music, art and/or theatre in the students of Harborfields Central School District.

This school year marks Dan Bilawsky’s nineteenth year as a member of the music faculty at Harborfields.  He currently directs the 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, OMS Jazz Band, and HHS Jazz Band.  In addition, he is the Assistant Director of the HHS Marching Band and the K-12 Music Department Coordinator for the district.  Other roles in Harborfields, beyond the classroom, include serving as the UTH Building President for OMS.  Mr. Bilawsky has been a three-time guest conductor for SCMEA All-County Festivals (2009, 2014, 2019), he was honored as a New York Lottery/WLNY-TV 55 “Educator of the Week” in 2006, and he is an executive board member of SCMEA, serving as a co-chair for that organization’s Day of Jazz.  He is the proud father of two boys, Jake and Max, and he has the pleasure of working closely with his wife, HHS Band Director Allison Scilla.

Include a message of congratulations to Dan or any of our other honorees in the 2019 HACEF Mardi Gras Commemorative Journal.
