“It Takes a Village” Distinguished Service Award

HACEF has created this award category in recognition of outstanding or long-standing commitment, contributions, and dedication to the Harborfields community.  Each of the recipients will have made a significant and positive impact on our community and made a difference in the lives of our district residents and/or students; or have made meaningful contributions or enriched the quality of life, vitality, health, welfare, success, or diversity of our community.

Ellen (Walsh) Rieger is a Harborfields Alumni. She and her husband John have raised their four daughters in Greenlawn, and they are all Harborfields graduates. Ellen has served on numerous PTA boards during her children’s tenure at Harborfields, including as Chair of the PTA Council Variety Show for several years, raising thousands of dollars in scholarship funds for Harborfields seniors. She is a founding member of HACEF, and is currently serving her third term as a Harborfields Library Trustee. As a lifetime resident of Greenlawn, Ellen is often quoted as saying, “I haven’t gone very far, but I am so very blessed to be where I am”.HACEF has created this award category in recognition of outstanding or long-standing commitment, contributions, and dedication to the Harborfields community. Each of the recipients will have made a significant and positive impact on our community and made a difference in the lives of our district residents and/or students; or have made meaningful contributions or enriched the quality of life, vitality, health, welfare, success, or diversity of our community.
