Susan Turrini
Award for Educational Advocacy

This award recognizes passionate individuals who—through their leadership and advocacy efforts, ensure educational excellence for the benefit of all students, teachers, and Harborfields community.

Susan Turrini has been a dedicated 5th grade teacher in Harborfields Central School District teacher for 24 years. She has been the UTH President for five years but in a leadership role for the past twelve years. She always makes sure the United Teachers of Harborfields are integral part of the Harborfields community and working with the District Administration to ensure that the education of all the student is of the upmost importance. Under her leadership the UTH has been award the NYSUT Community Service Award for two years with their “Jeans for a Cause” program. The UTH with the help of all the Harborfields Central School District employees raise about $12,000- $15,000 a year to help families in our community. Susan has been awarded the NYS Elementary Science Teacher of the Year and the Scope Teacher Service Award. She continues to love teaching and working in the Harborfields Central School District.
